The Ottoman "Iznik"
The design is from the 13th century Iznik Ceramics. The combination of the Iznik red and blue is typical of ceramics from Iznik in Turkey. The central medallion is a 7-fold pattern, while the outer rim exhibits a double scroll pattern. All areas are embellished with the Rumi motif. The central medallion has the simple rumi motif, while the outer has a more detailed, complex rumi. Underglaze is used are red, coral, blue, green, and black, while the overglaze is tintedto give a warm, golden hue. This tint also aids in harmonizing all the colours together.
