Ottoman Ivory Penc
This eight pointed rosette design as developed by Ottoman artisans around the 12th - 13th century. The central eight-pointed rosette is surrounded by simplified hayati motifs and the edges are stemmed with 'Rumi' motifs. The underlying 8-fold geometric pattern is illustrated by the arabesque 'Islimi' motifs.
